Battle Wings

Oil on canvas, 60 x 60cm

Commissioned by International Alert for the Talking Peace festival.

This painting was sold on opening night with all proceeds going to International Alert.

The image of a child soldier holding a gun, while wearing fairy wings, underlines a loss of innocence and the increasing need to talk about peace. The street poster echoes the propaganda that often takes place during conflict, while it’s camouflaged effect underlines the normality of war in today’s society.
